Budding zookeepers can learn more about what it takes to work at the Zoo by joining the Honey Badger Club.

HAVE you ever wondered what it's like to be a zookeeper? If you're between 7 and 14 years old, you can join the Zoo's Honey Badger Club, and get to be a zookeeper every Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

The Honey Badger Club is an environmental and educational programme that lets you follow Zoo staff into areas only keepers are allowed into, and get to know the habits and needs of the Zoo's many interesting wild animals. You will learn how zookeepers look after the animals' welfare and also receive a T-shirt, plus your first Saturday visit to the Zoo as a Honey Badger Club member is free.

The membership fee for the Honey Badger Club is R400 per year and is renewable every year. If you join before July, you will renew in February the next year. If you join after July, your will renew your membership in August the following year.
