Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo is proud to be working with SALI-award winning landscapers and construction companies to develop the city's parks.

saliawards1ON Wednesday 4 June, landscapers and construction companies were recognised for their work on Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo's (JCPZ) Metro and Lehae parks. Two companies received Gold Awards of Excellence from the South African Landscapers Institute (SALI, while two silver and two bronze awards were also handed out for work on other JCPZ facilities.

The SALI Awards recognise outstanding work in the design and construction industry and require that projects be entered by the landscaper or construction company.

The awards were handed over at the annual South African Green Industries Council convention in Pretoria.

The awards

sophiatown2aMarina Landscaping received a Gold Award of Excellence in the Landscape Construction with Design by Others category for the brand-new Metro Park design. The park is situated in the shadow of the Nelson Mandela Bridge in Newtown and will soon be open to the public.

Tswellepele Plants received the Gold Award of Excellence in the Specialised Landscaping Construction category for the construction of Lehae Park in Soweto.

A further four awards were awarded to landscapers for work done on JCPZ facilities.

Tswellepele Plants received silver awards for work done on Sophiatown Recreation Park and on playground equipment at Kaalfontein Park.

Servest Group and RSA Landscapers scored bronze awards for their work on Kakana Park and Southern Road Islands in Naturena respectively.

The awards confirm that JCPZ is committed to providing excellent facilities to residents in line with the mayor's vision of sound cohesion and access to public open spaces.

The City's Capital Infrastructure Development Department oversees the delivery of these award-winning parks.
