Eco- and family-friendly music happening the Rise & Shine Festival returns to Sandton Central Park on Saturday, 23 August.

Rise and Shine: 1 tree for every 50 festinos

And with Arbor Week just around the corner, it's a great opportunity for Joburgers to support the City's greening programme while chilling in the sunshine - Nokia Rise & Shine, with Obikwa Wines and Johannesburg City Parks, will plant one tree for every 50 people who attend.

And if that's not enough incentive, there's a great live entertainment lineup, that kicks in at 10am and runs through to 6pm, featuring Boo!, New Academics, Mr. Cat & the Jackal, Bye Beneco, Go Barefoot, Float Parade, The Urban Village and Sutherland.

Gates open at 8am, there's a light yoga session at 9am to limber you up for some serious relaxation, supplemented by crafted bars, delicious food, fresh coconuts - and outdoor Jozi at its best.

Note that, according to the festival website, while kids aged 12 and under get in free with an adult, the festival is not open to teens aged 13-17. Pets are also not welcome, nor can you bring your own food or drink.

Entry is R180, but if you pay an extra R70 (R250 total) for a "green ticket" then a tree will be planted on your behalf. Rise & Shine Festival raises trees for planting in underprivileged areas, and has contributed 300 trees to southern Africa to date.

Parking is available at Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton City for a flat fee of R10. For more information, visit www.riseshinefest.co.za
