It's that time of year again to get your scary costume ready for Joburg Zoo's annual How'loween event, taking place in partnership with Nickelodeon on Saturday, 31 October.

This year's How'loween promises to be the biggest, fright-fullest yet, with a festival of fun activities for both kids and adults running from 10am through 9pm.

Daytime activities will include the SpongeBob Show, Dora the Explorer, Haunted Zones, Ninja Turtles, Trick or Treat, and a sneak peak screening of the funniest vampire movie yet, Liar, Liar, Vampire.

Evening events will include the Haunted Forest, Ghost House, Slithering House, and Gee Wiz spooky wacky magic show. Clowns, stilt walkers, balloon sculptures and spooky face-painting will add to the thrills.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest costumes, pack their picnic baskets with monstrous goodies, and spend an evening with a difference among the Wild Lights.

There will be prizes for the best children's costumes, and Café Fino restaurant will be open to add to the mood with How'loween snacks and treats - and to cater for rugby fans, with a big screen for live viewing of the Rugby World Cup final.

The gates will be open from 8.30am to 9pm. Entrance is R100 for adults and R60 for pensioners and kids (4 to 12 years), while children under 4 years old get in for free. Tickets are available online at www.ticketpro.co.za.

As the Zoo's Upper Park Drive parking is under construction, please use the alternative parking at the Military Museum, Erlswold Way, and Saxonwold Primary School. Shuttles will be available from Saxonworld  Primary and Zoo Lake.
