UN World Wildlife Day is an international celebration of the planet's beautiful fauna and flora, as well as an occasion for raising awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people.

#WWD2016 is celebrated on 3 March, under the theme "the future of wildlife is in our hands" and with a special focus on elephants - the future of elephants is in our hands.

The world's wildlife is facing many challenges, with the biggest threats posed by habitat loss as well as overgrazing, farming and development.

In addition, poaching and trafficking in wildlife, driven by transnational organized crime groups, pose the most immediate threat to many iconic species - elephants being among the most targeted species
