Get out your takkies and your sunscreen and join us for a 5 or 10 kilometre fun run or walk through beautiful surrounds on Sunday, 10 July.

The Zoo Trot generally takes place on the second Sunday of each month, offering Joburg residents and visitors a great opportunity to run or walk in a peaceful green setting - while passing some of the most popular Zoo animals, including the lions, elephants, giraffe, monkeys and rhinos.

You and your family can join other Zoo Trotters, running to beat your own record or walking at your own pace with family and friends to reduce stress, keep fit or just socialise.

Zoo Trot

The Trot is open to young and old - it's not uncommon to see Moms and Dads pushing their babies in strollers as they walk or jog through the Zoo grounds.

Direction markers make the route clear to follow, and Zoo staff are on hand to help you stay on course.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a scrumptious breakfast at the Zoo's Cafe Fino - or bring your own picnic baskets, and enjoy the rest of the day relaxing at the Zoo.

Registration opens at 7h00, and the Trot begins at 7h30 and ends at 10h00. The entry fee is R55 each, while children under three get in for free.

  • Please note: alternative parking is available on the Erlswold Road entrance.
