Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ), a leader in city greening, will unveil its ground-breaking Xtremepark Makeover project at Rotunda Park in Turffontein on 26 March 2015.

Rotunda Park has rich historical significance as one Joburg's jewels, and is home to some of the city's oldest tree vistas.

The aim of the Xtremepark Makeover initiative is to fast-track the establishment of outdoor recreational facilities in high-density areas, while rehabilitating public spaces that are showing symptoms of illegal dumping, littering, vandalism and vagrancy.

Rotunda Park is one of numerous planned Xtremepark Makeovers which will complement the City's wider Corridors of Freedom initiative, giving residents and families places to meet, play and enjoy health outdoor lifestyles, all in close proximity to the hustle and bustle of daily city life.

The new park will have a revamped entrance feature, picnic and braai facilities, benches, bins, a state-of-the-art children's play area complete with rubberised surfaces, a fitness track, sports fields and skate court.

Invited guests include the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Members of the Mayoral Committee, City of Joburg officials, celebrities, local representatives, residents and media.
